koi writer
A quiet place to write.
Open the page and start typing. There’s nothing to set up, no account, no toolbar, just a clean page, a font made for long reading, and a soft keyboard sound as you write.
Private by design
Your writing is saved in your own browser, on your own device. It’s never sent to us or anyone else. That also means it stays on that one browser, so use Send to… in the menu to keep a copy elsewhere.
Everything is behind the koi
Click the koi in the corner, or press Esc, for options: light and dark pages, focus mode, sound volume, spellcheck, downloads and more. Ctrl+Shift+F (⌘+Shift+F on a Mac) toggles focus mode.
Italics and headings
Wrap words in *asterisks* for italics, and start a line with # and a space for a heading (## for a smaller one). Nothing changes while you write. When you copy, download or send your writing elsewhere, they become real italics and headings in Google Docs, Word or Obsidian.
Taking your writing elsewhere
Open the menu and choose Send to… to copy your writing with its formatting, download it for Word or Google Docs (.docx), Obsidian and other note apps (.md), or as plain text, share it from your phone, or open it as a new note in Obsidian.
Works offline
After your first visit, koi writer works without internet, and you can install it like an app from your browser.
